2018 has been a bit of a roller coaster, with both ups and downs. We wanted to take a little time today to look back at what has happened this year. Here’s 7 of the top news stories from 2018:

1. Two Dead in Westminster Plane Crash

Unfortunately one of the biggest news stories was this deadly plane crash that claimed two lives.

2. Carroll County Election Results

This was not a good year for Democrats in Carroll County. In addition to Larry Hogan’s reelection to Maryland’s governor seat, every county seat went Republican as well.

3. Sinkholes Found in Carroll County

Sinkholes are scary. They can crop up seemingly out of nowhere.

4. Cascade Lake’s Dam Overflowed

Residents that live near Cascade Lake were given a lot to worry about in August when their dam started to overflow.

The issue was handled, and luckily there was little damage. Now all residents have to worry about is a future flood.

5. The Sykesville Floods

While they may not have been as bad as those that hit Ellicott City, the Sykesville floods were still a force to be reckoned with.

Damage was done to many downtown businesses and traffic was backed up as the water made certain roads impassable.

Luckily most of the damage was minor, and pails in comparison to the damage Ellicott City received.

Onto 2019
