Hogan Wins Reelection

Larry Hogan (R) defeated challenger Ben Jealous (D) quite handedly, 56.2% to 42.7%, (According to The Baltimore Sun)

Hogan now becomes only the second Republican governor in Maryland’s history to win re-election.

Carroll County gave Governor Hogan 60,214 votes and gave Ben Jealous 10,831.

Local Elections

Carroll County only had two competitive races, with most candidates running unopposed.

Here are the results, all results taken from Washington Top News.

County Commissioner District 1 – Stephen Albert Wantz (R) Unopposed

County Commissioner District 2 – C. Richard Weaver (R) Unopposed

County Commissioner District 3 – Dennis E. Frazier (R) 7,876 (62.3%) Maria Warburton (D) 4,904 (33.6%)

County Commissioner District 4 – Christopher Eric Bouchat (R) 9,653 (66.2%) Paul Johnson (D) 4,904 (33.6%)

County Commissioner District 5 – Ed Rothstein (R) Unopposed

State’s Attorney – Brian DeLeonardo (R) Unopposed

Sheriff – Jim DeWees (R) Unopposed

Carroll County maintained its Republican dominance, electing a slate comprised entirely of Republicans.

National politics were a mixed bag, as Democrats gained a majority in the House of Representatives, while Republicans increased their majority in the Senate.
