Saturday, October 27th has been set aside for Spooky Saturday, Downtown Westminster’s big Halloween bash. The trick or treating will run from 3pm to 6pm and then there will be a haunted house at the Westminster Library from 3pm to 7pm. At 6:55, the Monster Dash will definitely get your blood pumping! There will also be a parade.
Everything will be taking place on Locust Lane, which is directly adjacent to Westminster’s Main Street. Don’t worry, you can’t miss it and you certainly won’t want to!
The adventure begins with your classic trick-or-treating fun. However, there will also be variety of crafts to do, games to play, and snacks to munch on throughout the event. Then at 7pm, it’s time for the Carroll Post 31 – The American Legion Halloween Parade. It’s going to be an adorably fun night with plenty of spooky fun for people and children of all ages. So, mark your calendars and make sure to stop by.
Where Did Halloween Come From?
The concept of Halloween was said to have originated from the ancient Celtic harvest festival known as Samhain, though some people say that this is not the case. Some people claim that this was originally a Christian holiday that marked the night were people would attend church and honor the dead and the saints.
However, no matter where it came from, it is one of the most popular holidays in the world. The traditions of Halloween tend to involve dressing up in disguises, eating treats, carving pumpkins, playing pranks on people, and scaring one another.
Though to be fair, costumes from back in the day were infinitely scarier than they are today no matter what anyone says. Just look at them!

Halloween Costume Ideas for 2018
Before you head out to any Halloween events, you need a costume! It’s one of the most fun parts of the whole occasion. Now, coming up with a good idea is sometimes a little challenging and we can’t all be Heidi Klum. (Last year she did the Werewolf from Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which you can see below. If you haven’t seen her other costumes, you should really check them out. She isn’t known as the “Queen of Halloween” for nothing.)
- Stranger Things — You can have one person go as Eleven in her ghostly Halloween costume and another person go as a box of Eggo waffles.
- Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again — There is no limit to how fabulous you can dress as one of the fantastic characters from the film. All you need is a little ABBA magic, some sequins, and a dream.
- It’s a Joke — When in doubt, you can always trust in tried and true joke costume: Just tell everyone you’re a homicidal maniac, “We look just like everyone else.”
