The Carroll County Arts Council is one of the most happening places in Westminster, so keeping up with what they’ve got going on is vital to being a part of this community. So, let’s take a look at some of the cool things that they have coming up.

DepARTures Bus Trips

If you’re looking for a way to explore the world of the arts throughout the Northeast, then DepARTures Bus Trips are your chance! For the remainder of the year, there is only one more trip on the roster for all you eager art-adventurers!

On October 25th, from 9am to 6pm you can take a trip to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. On the day of the trip, there will be a few special exhibitions for you to visit including The Precisionist Impulse, Krishna: The Blue-Skinned Lord, and Howardina Pindell: What Remains to Be Seen.

Along with their special exhibitions, they also have a ton of ongoing collections and exhibitions that you can explore. The Alphonse Mucha: Paris 1900 is particularly interesting if you enjoy Parisian art.

The Story of the Barn Quilt Trail

If you’ve been fascinated by the story of the barn quilt squares, then this is your chance to take a closer look at this inspiring story. “Pieced Together” is the inspiring tale of Donna Sue Groves and the birth of the modern barn quilt movement, created by Julianne Donofrio.

You can see the documentary on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Carroll Arts Center at 1pm and 7:30pm for $5. You can check out the trailer and find more information about the film right here.

Bailes de Mi Terra in Westminster

Take the afternoon to celebrate Mexican Independence Day with an amazing dance troupe at the Carroll County Arts Center. Bailes de Mi Terra, or “Dances of my Land” is an amazing group of performers who share their love and knowledge of Mexican traditions through their dynamic performances.

On Sunday, September 16th you can see one such performance at 3pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for people 25 and under, and ages 60 & Up. If you’re a member of the Carroll County Arts Council, you can enjoy a 10% discount! Grab a ticket here!
