Lois didn’t originally set out to open her own cakery. In fact, she wouldn’t even say she had a true passion for baking when she first began. Things changed for her when she lost her job and was having a near-impossible time finding work. Once she realized that her destiny wasn’t just going to come to her, she set out to find it herself, and she did so inside of her own farmhouse.
Lois began using her farmhouse as a personal bakery where she would make tasty treats to sell at local farmer’s markets. As her baked goods grew in popularity, she realized that she couldn’t keep up with the demand for her goods without moving into a commercial space. Hundreds of cakes, pies, and cupcakes later, Lois continues to be celebrated throughout her community for her delicious and creatively decorated treats that she sells out of her commercial bakery in Taneytown, Maryland.

Lois custom designs wedding cakes and other wedding treats to fit the exact needs of every bridge that enters her shop. In addition to offering deli meats and cheeses for lunch in-house, Stone House also provides an assortment of catering and tray options for anything from a small lunch meeting with clients to large gatherings like family reunions. As often as possible, Lois purchases her produce through local farmer’s markets when they are in-season, meaning her goods are as fresh as they come!
