Carroll County Farmer’s Market
The oldest farmer’s market in the county, Carroll’s market first opened in July of 1971. It began as an outlet for local farmers to give members of their community the chance to buy fresh eggs, baked goods, produce, jams, jellies, and crafts. In the beginning, only Carroll county residents were permitted to participate in the farmer’s market but today, vendors all throughout Maryland gather each Saturday to share their goods with local consumers.
Demonstrations have been featured in the weekly farmer’s market since the very beginning. Local experts love to hold demonstrations at the market on canning, cooking, flower arrangements, and more. There are still members of the Carroll County Farmer’s Market that participate today that were part of the original vendors in the 1970’s. The market hosts up to 100 vendors per week and has been separated into three markets: a Spring market, a Summer market, and a 7-week Christmas market that begins in early November.
