In a recent decision by Carroll County School Officials, a policy has been enacted upon all Carroll County schools that is halting all field trips to Baltimore City. This led to the immediate cancellation of two field trips that were planned for the next couple of weeks, including a marching band appearance and a trip to the Maryland science center.

This decision was made based on the recommendation of the Carroll County Sheriff James T. DeWees. Sheriff DeWees made the recommendation based on the spike in recent crime rates in Baltimore City, particularly in the touristy areas of the city. The mayor of Baltimore City, Mayor Pugh, stated the these crime rates are “out of control” in a recent statement.

The decision by the Carroll County School Officials will hold until the beginning of the next semester, which begins late January.
